How can blogs be used to support meaningful learning?

According to Dr Phyllis Chew from my English upgrading course, the advent of the computer age marks the third writing revolution as it has facilitated the pervasiveness of English as the common medium of communication. Therefore, using online tools like blogs inevitably benefits learners as it is able to spread information quickly.

In addition, meaningful learning is achieved with blogs as one-way or two-way communication. When we are viewing other people's blogs, we will always learn something; whether it is about the best places to eat chicken rice or just random gossips. However, learning can be meaningful when we as viwers are able to discern the truthfulness of the information after some thought-processing. This is my definition of the one-way communication.

Although it is not my best intention to ask everyone to treat every blogs that they come across as a practical critique, giving comments or feedback to the blogger helps. Depending on the level of maturity of the comments, they can open the blogger's perspective and allow them to ponder on issues that they are shortsighted on. Hence, meaningful learning occurs when people use blogs to process and communicate ideas in a fast and convenient manner.
